Keyboard not responsive unless in terminal

Hi, my keyboard only seems to work in terminal but when I start kde or openbox it does work. I`d appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.

Re: Keyboard not responsive unless in terminal

Sorry, I am now on another computer that I can type and not just an on-screen-keyboard. Basically, the keyboard works fine in the terminal, but when I start KDE or start Openbox, the keyboard doesn't work. I am just a bit confused on all the xorg and hal things, as to how to work out what I need to edit. The mouse works fine.

Re: Keyboard not responsive unless in terminal

Have you added hal as a daemon in rc.conf?
It should look like this or similar: "DAEMONS=(syslog-ng network netfs crond hal alsa)", assuming you have hal installed.

Edit: Just noticed that your mouse worked fine, I blame the late hour. tongue At the moment I don't have any ideas of what could be wrong, I'll come back if I find a solution though.

Edit2: Have you been playing around with /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/10-keymap.fdi? I think that the keyboard will stop working if you enter an invalid layout, I think that I've had that problem before.
