wmbattery and wmixer.

I don't think I understand the point of the dock.
All of the things mentioned so far: Battery, Mixer, Clock, etc, I prefer to have in a system tray. I don't want to have to hit a keystroke just to see what time it is. I want things like time and battery life to always be visible.
Is it just me?

No, it's not just you. But I like to keep my *box installs as minimal as possible and each of the wm* dock apps weigh in at a single MB each. Also, with being 64x64 they have a little more room for controls. wmixer, for example, can switch between master and pcm with a single click, making it a little more functional then something like xfce-mixer.

I like to place conky in dock - this way i can have it hidden in Openbox. I can always see information it contains when I need (on mouse hover).
It's a pity that there isn't any taskbar for dock - tint2 can hide in dock, but it always has fixed size

I don't need to hit a key because when I maximize and application, it doesn't cover the dock and the dock is also always on top.
