[SOLVED]Strengthen Wicd's wireless detection

Hello guys

I'm using Wicd as my network manager for Arch, and it works smoothly with wired connection. However, unlike other distros' (e.g Ubuntu, openSUSE, Slackware) network manager tools (whether it's NetworkManager or Wicd), my Arch's Wicd doesn't detect several wireless networks nearby my place (I just install Wicd by pacman -S wicd only)

So I'm just wondering if there's any kind of tools/packages that are meant to strengthen the Wicd wireless detection in Arch?

Thank you in advance

Cheers,

P.S : I forgot to say, my Arch is on the HP 6530s laptop

Re: [SOLVED]Strengthen Wicd's wireless detection

Any suggestions?

Btw, I also heard of netcfg, however, if I remember correctly, you need to define the (static) IP and gateway, DNS before using netcfg. The point is if you come to a place where you don't know the IP and how they configure the wireless network then how can we put in the stuffs we need to connect to the Internet.

Thank you

Re: [SOLVED]Strengthen Wicd's wireless detection

To be honest its more dependant on the driver your using for your card.. I have the same number of networks detected using wicd, network manager, netcfg, or just using the command iwlist scan.. make sure your using the best driver for your card to enable maximum funcitonality. There is a pretty good wireless wiki provided from ubuntu. Using lspci u can ascertain what card you have.
