yes it did, strange for psi to own qt plugin for qca though
anyways, thanks
Offline
ok that means psi has to remove qt plugin and adding qca-tls as normal package to extra. thanks for giving this info
it's not a build depend that is what it makes it difficult to find
Offline
ok uploaded new kdepim, kdenetwork and kdeutils.
fixed the qca-tls bug, fixed imap bug in kdepim and added an other depend to kdeutils.
Offline
error: cannot resolve dependencies for "kdenetwork":
"qca-tls" is not in the package set
Just got that when trying to install from your tur...
Edit: Ok well i guess that its trying to install the wrong version so is there a way to specify which version to use (make sure its using the latest 3.4.0 that you have)

Pierre wrote:OK, the composite-manager crashes sometimes, but everything runs faster and smoother with it. One problem is: sometimes windows aren`t resized correctly. In the wiki is one entry with the same prblem with fluxbox. I don`t know if it is a kde or xorg-problem.
It's a problem with Plastik (at least on maximize->restore):
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99832
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99833Other beta2 bugs I've reported: here (note that 2 got fixed and they're not on that list)
There's also a problem with "show window contents while resizing", but I haven't filled that bug yet (or checked if someone else reported it).
OK, perhaps we could ask tpowa to apply this patch ;-)
PS: kde-i18n works with the following PKGBUILD
pkgname=kde-i18n-de
pkgver=3.4.0
pkgrel=1
pkgdesc="German Localization for KDE."
url="http://i18n.kde.org/stats/gui/KDE_3_3_BRANCH/de/index.php"
source=(ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/unstable/$pkgver-rc1/src/kde-i18n/$pkgname-$pkgver-rc1.tar.bz2)
depends=('kdebase>=3.4')
build() {
cd $startdir/src
cd $pkgname-$pkgver
rm -rf ./docs/
./configure --prefix=/opt/kde --disable-debug
unsermake || return 1
unsermake DESTDIR=$startdir/pkg install || return 1
}
You have to checkout "unsermake" from cvs...strange thing.

did the normal "delete" command got lost? When I right-click on a file there's only the option to put it into the trash bin.. just wondering if that's just for me or if it got "lost"
ArchLinux (x86_64) w/ kdemod

mith that's a new feature you can change that in konqueror settings

@iotc247
qca-tls is in extra repo.
@pierre:
thanks for PKGBUILD but i got a compile error yesterday and i wait for final packages, which i was told they will be fine again.
saves me 200mb upload and a lot of PKGBUILD rewrite.

Yeah i know and then it wants to install qt 3.3.x... I thought you fixed it so you didnt have to install it first then install kde 3.4?
Edit: ok i installed qca which made me install qt 3.3 and then when i go to install kde 3.4 i get the same error...

Is it safe to upgrade to heimdal-0.6.3-3 yet, or is it still incompatible with KDE , the kio_http error found in the last beta?
Offline
heimdal is no depend anymore in kde 3.4 it is disabled by default

In konqueror, navigating to Services -> Storage Media -> cd hangs kde. The title of the cd is displayed when going to Storage Media, and the CD spins at first, but a reset is needed. I did this in the beta w/o problem.
Offline
cannot confirm this for me it works as it should

Is there a dependency missing within one of the kde packages? As when I click on devices under services, it displays a message indicating that the protocol is not supported
Offline
Did you change it to point to 'media:/', not 'devices:/'?
Offline
devices:/ is depracted it's now called media:/
you have to remove
.kde/share/apps/konqsidebartng/virtual_folders/services
to get new sidebar

About the CD hanging kde, it seems it was the CD. Others I try work ok, but if I put one specific one in it hangs. I have to do some work now, but I will look for messages later. The CD in question mounts ok from the command line.

tpowa, I read that Mandrake and another distribution (can't remember the name) are using the -fvisibility=hidden -fvisibility-inlines-hidden compiler flags that speed ups kde binaries. Are you using it, or plan to use it on the future?
Offline
this is an gcc issue. at the moment it is not supported, but i'm looking forward to get a new gcc package soon then it is enabled by the autodetection in the configure scripts of kde.
thanks for giving me the hints

Anyone can post an additional link to the patch itself. I can try to backport it, but the neoprod.com link seems down. And the closest patch was available on a conectiva rpm that now cannot be found anywhere.

One of the new things in 3.4 is the Logitech-specific parts in Kcontrol, as battery status of cordless keyboard/mouse. I have a MX510, where you have the option to change between 400 and 800 dpi (Great in Enemy Territory), but in Kcontrol the options are unavailable, saying I don't have the right permissions. I tried a chmod a+rwx /dev/input, but that did not help. I CAN change it if I run the control center as root, but not really an ideal solution. Any suggestions on what to change?
Yes i have the same problem, it works only as root

You have to modify permissions in the DevFS/Udev configuration files.
I think there are some wiki pages about this.

Is the kdenetwork -2 package corrupted?
Offline
Just remove it from /var/cache/pacman/pkg/ and it should be ok on the second try.
