i've been away from my system for ~ 2 wks. just did a full system upgrade, and notice that i cannot print a pdf file using evince.
pdf files load and view fine, and when i try to print a window pops up which shows available network printers correctly, however the window is unresponsive to the mouse, and evince effectively hangs from that point forward.
evince itself was not upgraded during the time i was away, so i'm assuming the problem lies somewhere else.
does anyone know what the problem is, and/or whether it is likely to be fixed relatively soon?
since i run a 64-bit system i have assumed evince is my best choice for a pdf viewer utility - perhaps there is something better?
(forgot cups error log entry...) here is /var/log/cups/error_log:

I strongly suspect that you missed the following message from pacman
:
>>please run /usr/sbin/cups-genppdupdate
>>and restart cups deamonOffline
hmm. that message is not in /var/log/pacman.log, and in any case /usr/sbin/cups-genppdupdate is not present on my system. where does one get it? sounds like i might be missing an entire package(?).

I used this to install cups: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Cups
Also check that your mirror is up to date. Did you do a full upgrade, pacman -Syu? Maybe you should run a pacman -Syy, then a pacman -Syu again.

well, printing was working fine as of a week or so ago. i print exclusively over a LAN. this morning i did a full pacman -Syu (actually powerpill -Syu) using an up-to-date mirror. though as i mentioned cups was not upgraded. it is not that i cannot print, just that things like evince, which pop up a gui window when one is trying to print, hang up the application and therefore cannot do anything, including print.
here is a list of all the packages that were upgraded this morning. not sure if it will help anyone figure out what happened:
