this is more of a general question... but when you go to preferences then actions, it opens a window and asks for the location of the program, and i know in windows that i would go select the .exe file...
obviously this is not how it is done in arch... so anyone want to enlighten me on program locations?

You can find program locations by typing
which firefox
into a terminal. Basically, which "some program name", will work if they're in your $PATH.

Well really you still are selecting the executable, its just that *nix doesn't need any extensions like .exe
