hello all
I had problems with a flickering screen and after some time a completely blanc screen.
This problem only occured after waking up from sleep.
After a lot of googling i found a fix by disabling kms in grubs menu.lst.
i added:
i915.modeset=0
to the kernel line
But after todays system upgrade X refused to start up.
I was able to fix this by enabling kms:
i915.modeset=1
but... my screen starts flickering again
system:
eeepc1005ha-h with integrated intel video
any ideas?
need any configs?
thanks

what is your kernel version ?
edit: BTW, you can try i915.powersave=0 to see if it helps

similar issues have been reported as solved using .33-rc8. you could try it to see if it helps.

I got the same problem with my 1005HA-H. I hope the new kernel will solve it.

I just stumbled across this thread after noting 2 screen flickers on my 1000HE. I am interested to hear if the next kernel fixes the problem. For now I am relieved that it is probably an kernel issue and not my screen going out

it looks like some of the fixes have been backported to .32.9 which was released yesterday. and it's already in arch testing repo.

It seems to help with my laptop. Nice.
Six years after it was released unto the world, the laptop nearly has proper video drivers. It's enough to bring a tear to the eye...

If they havent parted from TTM/EXA who knows when would it get propper drivers. After all I'm amazed what they have done in a short amount of time ('bout a year). Still some quirks with power management though but I expect that it will all be great in 2.6.33 . Oh and performance was increased significantly with 2.6.33-rc8, I had 50% gain in 3D games.

yes it worked
thanks a lotfor the help

with 2.6.32.9-1, it still has random flickering if not set i915.powersave=0. Hope it's already fixed in 2.6.33.

@leeyee
I did "yaourt kernel26-rc" and used this section in menu.lst:
# (1) Arch Linux
title kernel 2.6.33-rc8
root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz26-rc root=/dev/disk/by-uuid/<insert uuid here> ro
initrd /kernel26-rc.img
and everyting works like it should!
