I've runned NetBeans with min 256MB heap, but it is still very slow (unable to work in it).
I'm using the sun-jre/jdk.
My computer (4gb RAM, 2GHz monocore )
Anything I can do to improve performance?

Do you check is NetBeans consuming 100% of CPU?

Oh, yeah, forgot to mention. Java used around 80% cpu when starting NetBeans.
I have had NetBeans up since I posted the last post, and it seems like the performance is improving.
Now, Java uses 11.0% CPU and around the same amount of memory.
Maybe it just needed to get "warm"
Had the same problem on Ubuntu (on the same machine), but then I just increased the min/max heap values and everything went swimmingly.
Just wondering if there are any good tips on how to improve NetBeans/Java performance?
edit: make that 99% CPU usage when firing up NetBeans.
