Unable to start gnome session

Hi,

i used to have a working system but after my last reboot this has changed. It has been a lot of days since the last time I rebooted and quite some updates so I do not know which update might have caused it.

When gdm starts it flickers a few times and it crashes. I have a fully working console but I am not able to startx.

I use the latest kernel, xorg and xf86-video-ati packages and I have tried deleting me xorg.conf file. I do not see any error messages in Xorg.log . when i try startx from a tty I get a lot of lines like this one:

expected keysym, got XF86WWW: line 1773 of inet

and near the end of the file:

gnome-session: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libXi.so.6: undefined symbol: XESetWireToEventCookie

the last line reads:

error setting MTRR (base=0xd0, size <SNIP) Inappropriate ioctl for device (25)

I would more than welcome ideas as I do not want to reinstall my system.

Yep, I just started getting this too!
None of the remedies noted in similar posts worked.
I am on arch 64
and getting similar errors trying to start kde, xfce4, etc.

Same problem for me too!

After kernel update on restarting GDM try to start but fails. I've last nvidia-173xx driver installed.
I've solved the problem forcing nvdia driver reinstallation. This is my Xserver log!
