I am looking for a decent monospace font and by the process of elimination I have arrived at gamow. But how do I install it? ArchWiki does not mention where it is (it refers to it as Gamov, someone should fix that) and pacman -Ss gamow does not return anything.

Alright I installed yaourt with pacman then tried installing that package with yaourt but I get a ton of error messages of the form:
No glyph for character U+XXXX (yyyy) available.
and I have to abort.

Hesam: Both packages (lfpfont-fix/var) seem to spew these errors when compiling. The same goes for the sources linked to above.
I'm running 64 bit.
Edit: Some bdf's are produced in the build dir. I haven't tried them out.

So what are you supposed to do? The task does not complete hence I have to abort.

Check your /tmp/yaourt-tmp-(username) for the build dir. Copy gamow* to /usr/share/fonts/local/ fontdir. Run "mkfontscale && fc-cache" inside /usr/share/fonts/local/ and see if the fonts appear.
The above procedure worked here.
Btw: Dina-font is much better than gamow imo.

I have aur-gamow in there now but appears to be empty.
Copy gamow* to /usr/share/fonts/local/ fontdir.
I am looking at this file and each entry is quite lengthy should I just add "gamow" as a new line or is it more complicated than that?

Try getting the tarball from aur (wget http://aur.archlinux.org/packages/lfpfo … ix.tar.gz), untar it and build the package manually with makepkg and then follow the procedure I lined out above.
I do feel obligated to point out that manually copying files from packages is not Arch "best practice" at all, but since it's fonts it's not a big deal.
If you don't know how to use makepkg read this: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Makepkg
Edit: /usr/share/fonts/local is a font dir for your local fonts. It probably contains fonts already. Another, better way to do this is to create folder in your homedir e.g. fonts/ and copy the gamow bdf's there. Afterwards run "mkfontdir && mkfontscale && fc-cache" inside the dir.
Either this or find a way to get lfpfonts-fix to compile correctly.
