Having some problems running the compiz fusion settings manager. Looks like it has something to do with python. Anyone?

Never mind. Suddenly worked

How did you fix the error?
I have the exact same error as you.:(

I'd suggest to check your locales.
As root:
vi /etc/locale.gen
uncomment the desired locales and
locale-gen

How do I know which one to uncomment?
Offline
well... depends on which one you need
if you are from USA you'd probably uncomment en_US.UTF-8 and/or en_US ISO-8859-1. I'm from Italy and I use it_IT.*.

Wow, it worked. Thank you so much.:D

OK, got it.
damn, that runs horrible in KDE - the taskbar shows all apps, and compiz throws them all on the same desktop. And if you dragn'ndrop them to another desktop - they just disappear!!! WHEN will compiz get its act together, it's like 3 years old now...
bleh, removed it already. I'll wait until a decent windowmanager gets composite support. Shame on compiz.

Try
$ LC_ALL=en_US.utf8
$ LANG=en_US.utf8
$ ccsm
;-)
