Hello to everyone, I'm new to Arch Linux.
I'm trying to configure my Sound Blaster Audigy card (which works in other OSs) and I can't make it work.
I installed alsa-utils and alsa-oss, and tried to run alsamixer but I doesn't seem to be installed in my system.
I use KDE as my desktop environment.
Please, let me know any other detail I should post.
Thanks in advance.

Are you running alsamixer as a regular user, not root? And have you added your sound card to /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf file?

Hello, thanks for answering so fast. I run alsamixer as root, here is the answer I get.
cannot open mixer: No such file or directory
And here is a copy of my /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf
#
# /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf (for v2.6 kernels)
#
options snd_ca0106 index=0
I copied the last line from the Wiki

You don't need to run alsamixer as root if you user are in group audio.

Well, I solved my problem. I think it has to do with installing the Xine libraries.

"Think"? Did you install the Xine libraries and the sound worked? Or did you install any other packages aswell? If you have any more information, please provide that. Thanks, I'll try to remember Xine the next time I'm installing Arch with no sound.
