Hi, I don't know exactly if this should be here or in the Workstation category...
I've just performed a fresh Archlinux installation. After that I installed the Xorg server, a Gnome desktop and updated drivers for the graphics card. I've added a new user and all but I can't get X11 server to work.
To start a X11 session and get to the Gnome desktop I usually type startx (I have modified /etc/X11/xinitrc to add this line: exec ck-launch-session gnome-session).
Here is my groups file (the user is mick): http://pastebin.com/1Q78LcJC
The xorg.conf file: http://pastebin.com/rL10QMev
And the Xorg log (I couldn't see anything out of normal, but I don't really know where to look): http://pastebin.com/pT4PiHH5
Could anyone tell me how to fix it please? Or what is wrong?
Thank you very much in advance, I'm really desperate, it's a clean install I don't know what can be happening.

In what way is X11 not working? Black screen, freeze or what? No error message in the console? Have you tested X trying to enter with just xterm in .xinitrc??

Yes, and the full Gnome desktop, providing that the user is root.
If using another user (mick in this case) I can't start even a xterm.
The server tries to start (the screen flashes in black) and the I return to the tty I was. There is no error message, just info telling me that the config in xorg.config is being used and where the log is.

Maybe this helps? http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=89546

Yes! It helped indeed!
I created the new user after installing everything so a default ~/.xinitrc was installed too. This default file was empty (regarding what to execute when starting the X11 server) so the system-wide configuration file was never read.
Thank you very much!
