Hey all. I just got a new box with an Sabrent card that looking at the reviews and such hasno problems running. Though I don't know if those posters were using 32/64 bit platforms.
I am using a 64 bit...the firmware was on the core cd. Overall I'm used to WICD and I DON'T have a land line available. The pci card is seeing wifi's surrounding me, but the network won't restart because it wants more of a timeout or double check the security level.
It looks like from my googling there have been no solutions in the 64 bit arena.

I just put an rt61-based card in my son's machine, but it is only a 32-bit install. I don't use wicd, either, so what use can I be? :-)
Anyway, as a sanity check, have you installed rt2x00-rt61-fw and modprobed it (modprobe rt61pci, I think)?
To start it by hand, try
ifconfig wlan0 up
iwconfig wlan0 essid <your_network> key <if_needed>
dhcpcd wlan0
Do you get through those commands in some sensible way?

Ya I have and from all appearances have what I believe is correct.
The arch posts, some from 2008 on ths ame subject with 64bit are back again.

Even the bug fixes fix that is in the /etc/rc.d/network is not working.
The whole reason I bought this card was because it right off was supposed to work. iwlist shows my router, and others in the neighborhood. I just can't get anything to resolve and connect. Even my own network is unreachable.
64 bit is new for me and its a test box in some ways, but will become my major box once I iron out my partitioning and stuff.
