I have installed mpalyer-vdpau-nogui from AUR and SMPlayer from [extra], but now pacman can't upgrade the new version of SMPlayer (0.6.9) in [extra] because it depends on mplayer, and it asks me for removing mplayer-vdpau-nogui. Is it safe to perform the system update, removing mplayer (pacman -Rd mplayer) and installing mplayer-vdpau-nogui from AUR again (if possible)?
Thanks in advance.

Just FYI but the pkgbuild for SMPlayer 0.6.9 says it wants mplayer>=30526 but mplayer-vdpau-nogui is only at 30356.

remove mpalyer-vdpau-nogui and install mplayer from extra. it has the same things, no gui and vdpau
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

That's what I'm going to do
So, just curious, what's the reason for a mplayer-vdpau-nogui package, since it's not been flagged "out of date"?
