Thank You Arch Wiki And Forums!

In under an hour, I had a working Arch system up and running, along side of my main Kubuntu and windows installations.  I consider my linux skills to be very novice, and I did this with no problems and I understood the entire processs.  I want to formally thank you all for the guides and information herer that have helped me do this flawlessly.  Now comes the fun part of configuring and building my system!  One more Kubuntu user on the way out!

Yea well, its nice to be praised for helping people.  Most people use boards to find answers to problems, and all too often people post a new thread without throughly searching for an answer.  When they solve their problem, thats it, they go away.  I figured I would reinforce the hard work everyone has done by prainsing their work, and thanking them for such an easy installation process, and what I hope to be an easier time building up my system.  I'm excited because this means I have more skills with Linux than I thought.

Welcome to the club. Although I'm not new to Linux, I am new to Arch and I am loving it. I like the speed, and the fact that pacman pkgs work well with other custom compiled apps. Gotta love it. I've noticed the community is little more professional too. Normally when you ask questions on various Linux forums you get typical "hey idiot check google" type responses on most Linux forums.

Yeah, most of us can barely stand this dreadful distro and wish secretly that we had our old windows back.

But hey, I'm stuck here and so are you now lol

Re: Thank You Arch Wiki And Forums!

Welcome big_smile

Arch's power is it's community over all, which gives power to both the distro and the devs' work. Except for that, it it's overall transparency and lack of complexity of other distros, especially on the devs' work and the packaging, which is much easier on Arch, and AUR is a proof of that. By giving to the user the ability to handle the system without problems, having a rolling release system that very few problems, mostly caused upstream,  AND create packages so easily, that makes Arch so attractive as a distro.

When a new user posts to say thank you instead of "Arch is run by retarded monkeys", it's nice to have it's own thread.

I never thought my post would get so much attention.   LOL.  I'm not much of a board troll either, I think in the 5 years I used Ubuntu, I posted maybe 100 posts on the forums.

Re: Thank You Arch Wiki And Forums!

Here Here!

Arch has always been the only distro to satisfy my picky nature and it's wiki and community support is incomparable in all of linux-land.

Oftentimes when I read a new user post something here I have to wonder "is this really the distro that best suits them?" Well with you I feel confident that this distro is perfect for you. You obviously seem to have the right mindset for it! So welcome to the wonderful world of arch linux! Enjoy yourself, and beware of the terrible WM addiction that you are sure to experience tongue.
