CUPS and Firefox 3.5 "Getting printer information failed"

hi, i have a sheeva plug running debian lenny with a usb printer attached.  i can print without problem from the sheeva command line.  also, i can print without problem from my netbooks', running arch, command line using `lpr.`  however, when i try to print from an application such as firefox the print dialog reads ''getting printer information failed" and the print button remains grayed out.

considering i can print from the netbook command line i'd say the configs are correct.  although, i notice when i run lpstat and lpinfo i get a message regarding no ppd file found.

lpstat -p -d

printer DJ960c is idle. enabled since Sat 12 Dec 2009 02:20:34 PM PST
system default destination: DJ960c

lpstat -v

device for DJ960c: usb://HP/DESKJET%20960C?serial=#####

lpoptions -l

unable to get PPD file for DJ960c: successful-ok

so it looks like `lpoptions -l` and firefox have the same problem.

any ideas on how i can start printing from firefox?

Did you find a solution? Same problem here, trying to print to a remote cups server...

Re: CUPS and Firefox 3.5 "Getting printer information failed"

Yeah it was fixed.  I forget how to fix it.  IIRC check the domain name of the remote server and make sure that host/domain point to the correct ip address in the clients /etc/hosts file.

example:
domain / host info on remote server: yourdomain.local
clients /etc/hosts: yourdomain local <remote server ip>
