xfce terminal freezes computer

Random crash when I activate existing terminal windows in xfce.
I found error message:

sudo cat /var/log/everything.log |grep error

Feb 28 19:09:59 xxx init: open(/dev/console): Input/output error

Only power button works no keyboard or mouse.
What could cause that?

Re: xfce terminal freezes computer

Which terminal do you use ? (xfce4-)terminal ? xterm? urxvt ?
If switching to another terminal does not work, then maybe you can try to recreate /dev/console
(Warning: I never tried this in an running arch-install... first you should try using another terminal.)

cd /dev ; rm console ; mknod -m 600 console c 5 1

Re: xfce terminal freezes computer

I think I found what caused crash. Acer-wmi module.
After I blacklisted module there hasn't been a single crash. Earlier it was several times per day.
I've sent mail to module coder and waiting for an answer....

Oh and I have Acer Aspire 5520 laptop in case someone else comes to same problem.
