[Solved]Problem with libpng

Hi @ all,
at first: I'm a german pupil and English is not my favourite subject so please excuse my bad English.

I had installed libpng-1.2.
Then I changed the mirror for pacman from ftp://ftp.hosteurope.de/mirror/ftp.arch … po/os/i686 to ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/archlinux/$repo/os/i686 because there was the new Firefox-3.6. I installed it and with it the libpng-1.6. But with the new libpng X did not start, so I downgraded to libpng-1.2. But now some applications say:

error while loading shared libraries: libpng14.so.14: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

If I install the libpng-1.4, some applications say:

error while loading shared libraries: libpng12.so.12: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

And for example Gimp doens't work right since this operation. How can I tell the applocations, that they only need one of them? ^^

I would be happy if someone can help me smile

Re: [Solved]Problem with libpng

i'm going to guess that you did pacman -Sy firefox which pulled in the updated libpng without updating all the other apps that depend on it.

you need to pacman -Syyu && pacman -S firefox.

Re: [Solved]Problem with libpng

No, it works because you did a complete upgrade now, which you probably didn't do before wink.

Please add [Solved] to your topic title.

And please use pacman -S instead of pacman -Sy.

Re: [Solved]Problem with libpng

I had a problem with building the new libpng. autoconf was missing. Should that be in the packagebuild?
