How to configure EvilVTE while using bauerbill for AUR support?

Hi. Always nice to come back to the newbies corner.

I use bauerbill for everyday AUR use. I know I can download the source, edit the .h file and run makepkg manually.
What I'm looking for is a way to configure evilvte and still use bauerbill to update the package. In normal bauerbill usage there is no gap between the download and the compilation. If there was one, I could alter the .h file before the compilation.
