how to add emoticons (gif) to kopete

Hi all,
i was trying to use again kopete (now i'm on pidgin with kdemod4.4). I remember i changed to pidgin, because kopete was crashing periodically! pidgin is very stable, BUT now, after last updates, it seems that emoticon doesn't appear regularly: i need to restart the program to see images despite its shortcuts.

By the way, i was trying kopete, but there's no way to add new emoticon. I.E if one friend sends one, i cannot add it to mine! why? i remember before i could!

Do you know a way to do that?
