Best settings for ATI Technologies Inc Radeon RV200 QW [Radeon 7500]

My xorg setup works with this card ' ATI Technologies Inc Radeon RV200 QW [Radeon 7500]
' using the 'radeon' driver. However starting glxgears i see the following messages:

Rendering was 79 commands larger than predicted size. We might overflow  command buffer.
***************************************************************************
1248 frames in 5.0 seconds = 249.540 FPS
1215 frames in 5.0 seconds = 242.845 FPS

Compositing does not. When i start the xcompmgr, performance decreases.
I am not happy with the 2d rendering, switching panels in i3 works slow.

Is someone experiencing similiar problems?

Try without any xorg.conf - worked for me
