I have Arch 64 with XLDE on my C2D laptop. Everything works fine, but when I start up or shut down system - in lines before start or halt are many messages something like:
Can not open default display " default display"
Is it any idea what does it mean? Which log file record startup and shut down errors?
Thanks!

You can retain startup messages like so: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Gen … t_messages

Can you post your rc.conf? Also your /etc/inittab?

Try removing
setxkbmap lv -variant apostrophe
from your rc.conf
Offline
I can`t - it put latvian keyboard support for my system - somehow Slim or LXDE overwrite my xorg.conf latvian keyboard support, so I put it rc.conf - and seems its works.

Then you might try setting it in keymap, currently you have:
KEYMAP="us"
#edit Actually, that won't help. Put it in your .xinitrc...

OK, but how to add
KEYMAP="LV"
" - variant apostrophe ? "
it in your .xinitrc..
I tried - it does not work too. Seems problem is in Slim, I used Gnome login manager - everything was OK.

OK. You have been right. It is "setxkbmap lv -variant apostrophe" in rc.conf Commented out it - and messages disappeared.
So I add :setxkbmap lv -variant apostrophe" in .xinitrc - like last command - and now keyboard works again.
Lession: do not put anything unnecessary in rc.conf
Thank you!

You can add that in xorg.conf too
Under the keyboard section
Option "XkbLayout" "lv"
Option "XkbVariant" "apostrophe"
