Hi Guys,
I am brand new to Arch (since yesterday)
I did run the install from a usb stick --> no issue there.
launching the setup /arch/setup --> ok
I want to bring to my eth0 up and big surprise: It's not there
lspci | less ---> returns everything but my ethernet card
lspci | grep Ethernet --> returns null.
I was running Ubuntu yesterday and had good connection. So I know that my NIC is ok from a hardware point of view ( that was yesterday).
I have read the beginners guide from front to back and nothing is mentionned there for NICS that dont show.
I would much appreciated your help.
Kind Regards,
Zongo

Hi,
I too had the same problem. Try configuring ur /etc/rc.conf as per http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beg … NG_Section I too got it running today morning(stuggling with Chakra/Arch from last 2 days to setup everything) and have got it working.
Regards.

First of all, thank you for your prompt reply.
I am not sure about the card. Since ubuntu did see it, I thought I would not have any issue with arch. Therefore I did not bother looking at it. Now, since I am not seeing at all, I have no idea how to get to it. I would believe (looking at the specs of my computer) that it might be an atheros.
# cat /var/log/dmesg |grep -i eth0 --> did not report anything at all.

Hi chakra-user,
Thank you for your response. I have gone over the beginner's guide over and over again.
Since my card, is not seen and therefore not probing, I would believe my first step would be to load a module. Where I am stuck is how to find out which card it is since it is not showing in the system...

PS: Just want to add that I have a dhcp server..

Actually it shud autodetect ur card, but u can try lspci -k and various options of lspci to find out ur card details and then modprobe the modules, once found, put that module in rc.conf.

The card is not seen by the system. I think it is more a hardware fault than software.

yes it is enable in the bios.
The card is now back up.
I did reinstall ubuntu in the meantime. I don't know if it is the fact that I was trying to install Arch or the fact that by installing Ubuntu again that brought the card back up..I really do not understand what happened...
Thank you guys for all your help.
