GDM show no users

After a recent upgrade GDM shows no users in its users list. (Not even the posibility to type the username)
The only thing to choose is either "restart" or "shutdown", however none of them works.

I see multiple lines in gdm/:0-greeter.log stating problems with "devkit-power-gobject" and then "Unable to find users: no seat-id found"

I have tried to downgrade packages to an earlier version that worked, but with no luck. So a file or some configuration must be wrong?

Anyone seen this?

:0-greeter.log:

Re: GDM show no users

I did find a gentoo bug with a workaround that worked.

So I did a "chmod o+x /usr/lib/dbus-1.0/dbus-daemon-launch-helper"
and now everything is working properly.

However I have a bad feeling that some user/group numbers are incorrect or something, and next dbus upgrade will reset the filepermissions...

Re: GDM show no users

Are all of your packages up-to-date?  This bug showed itself a while back but should be fixed now:

Re: GDM show no users

yep. Seems like this problem was "introduced" with latest dbus update. (1.2.20-1)

Everything was fine yesterday, but I'm posting this from Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick) because today's upgrade to 2.6.34-2 seems to have messed up gdm. I have these repositories enabled:

polkitd does not start. Instead I see:

Jun 19 14:48:01 arch gdm-simple-greeter[3152]: devkit-power-gobject-WARNING: Couldn't enumerate devices: Launch helper exited with unknown return code 127
...

Booted into recovery mode, removed nvidia-beta 256.29-2 and installed nvidia-beta 256.35-1.

Unfortunately this did nothing to resolve the problem.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue after the upgrade to 2.6.34-2?

Re: GDM show no users

I have the same problem - no users during but. Just sudo /etc/rc.d/gdm restart helps.

delete /var/log/ConsoleKit/history
