GStreamer fails to recognize jackd i/o

Last time I was using GNOME, I tried using JACK and gstreamer-plugins-jack... But when I looked at the GStreamer config, there was no option for JACK for either input or output. With the EST Gstreamer plugin, esdsink and esdmon become available.

Could someone please tell me what the names of the source and sink are for jackd, so that I can put in the correct settings via gconf-editor next time?

Ya but it does not say anything about making jack usable in gstreamer or some other programs.

my wild guess is that jack started by /etc/rc.d script runs a root, and thus no aridinary user can connect. Try to run jack via qjackctl instead(as oridinary user) and check if gstreamer can use it then.

-neri (who never tried gstreamer)

Or use the "Activate sound server at startup" option.
