USB Printer Help

I am trying to setup a Epson CX4200 All-In-One printer on Arch KDE 4.4 64bit.  However, I am having problems.  I have already installed cup and configured cups, but the printer does not show up when I use the web interface for CUPS.  What do I need to do in order to get this working?

Re: USB Printer Help

You might need to put !usblp in your rc.conf file.

Check the CUPS page in the Arch Wiki for details:

Re: USB Printer Help

If it's an all in one printer, also check the permission. Use lsusb to find out on which bus and device the printer is and check the permissions of /dev/bus/usb/bus/device - the group should be "lp", but is probably "scanner".

There's a fix with udev for this, it's either in the wiki or in the forum.

Re: USB Printer Help

I got my cx4200 setup so I can install it through the cups interface.  However, the problem now is, anything I try to print, it just prints the whole page black.  Is this just a setting on the printer.  Help please.

Re: USB Printer Help

Try to set the print quality to draft or below. I have a similar problem with a DX8400 and it only happens when printing with standard quality.
