Windows 7 and Multi-boot

Hallo! Just want to get some quick advice.

I have Windows XP in sda1 with grub install to the MBR on sda.

I just bought sdb and installed Windows 7 in sdb1.  Windows 7 overwrote Grub in sda MBR during install.

I chrooted into Arch install and re-installed Grub and added a new entry for Windows 7.

Here's the issue:

When I choose my old Windows XP grub entry it takes me to the Windows selection screen (which I assume is being provided by NTLDR on sda1) that was installed by Windows 7.

When I choose my new Windows 7 grub entry it says no NTLDR found.

Obviously what I want is Win XP entry to boot XP straight away and W7 entry to do likewise.

I figure I need to reset the NTLDR on sda1 to point straight to XP and I need to install NTLDR to sdb1 to boot W7 directly.

Sound about right?

Re: Windows 7 and Multi-boot

dtw,

yes, thats about it, but in my opinion its easier said then done. I have a similar case, but using it so rarely and only
for testing purposes I just forgot about changing it.

The fact is that the Win7 boot files are on the XP partition.

You can see some opinions about it in: http://tinyurl.com/ykq9tvv

You will find a lot more if you goggle with the words: dual boot xp win 7 remove xp

(my target was to remove XP)
