dual-console?

Any of you know if it would be technically possible to have "dual-head" in console mode?

Re: dual-console?

one console spanning two monitors, or two consoles on the same system?

Re: dual-console?

well one console spanning on 2 monitors would be annoying...

more like 2 consoles, one on each monitor? that would be stupid right?
or that would require 2 keyboards and stuff?

Re: dual-console?

yeah, seems  a bit odd. I would say you would need some really simple window manager. Then you could have a few terminals on the screens, and switch between them with a key sequence..

Re: dual-console?

simple window manager = ratpoison.

I have no idea if this is possible, but you might be able to use screen... I don't know much about it, but it apparently does everything. wink

Re: dual-console?

on my server. It is actually headless right now, but occasionally I will hook up a monitor to it, and run top inside screen or something.
wink

I also have a couple vmware instances that are cli only. I use those mostly as build instances, testing, etc.

generally though, i have one desktop, and use ssh ALOT. Screen fits nicely into that paradigm, as I can detatch sessions and have them continue..
