Re: ArchBang 2.00 RC1

I don't see RC2 happening anytime soon. i had already taken the initiative of expanding the team and even made necessary changes in the wiki to encourage people to join the team but it seems no one is interested. I can't take care of ArchBang single-handedly,even Will is MIA. So if anyone is interested in a future for ArchBang , please contribute! Mail me.

Re: ArchBang 2.00 RC1

Would it be possible to make (do you already have?) a larch profile for ArchBang? If it was as easy to build as that, it might be fairly easy to maintain and develop it. Of course, if nobody's offering to contribute there's not much point, but a simple build process might encourage people to have a bash. It would also be nice for me to be able to offer something like ArchBang as an example profile, as it seems to have aroused quite some interest, at least on the consumer side ... .

I have it running as a VM under Arch (so I can keep as test system seperate to my main) and it runs perfectly.

Re: ArchBang 2.00 RC1

Most of what is needed to create Archbang from Archiso scripts is well documented, I am in the process of getting a build environment set up

How do you see Archbang developing either you simply update packages and artwork or do build on what you have got

Any project does need a goal and of course the support to carry it forward

Not sure a forum would help at the moment, maybe somewhere that devs can come together

Short term I can torrent

Re: ArchBang 2.00 RC1

I'm quiet interested in helping out as well but i was wondering the same as Mr Green,

Is it just a case of maintaining packages or build on what is already there (like the Charkra Project) ?

Matthew

Re: ArchBang 2.00 RC1

I run it under VirtualBox and Qemu-kvm. I don't know, whose bug it is, but X crashes if using "-vga std" option in qemu. Works well with "-vga vmware" though.

Sorry, 18 pages was too much for my English. May be these problems were mentioned earlier.

Installation. It was fast, convenient, no questions. But. I have a notebook with a nvidia card and your livecd detected it without problems. After installation I had to install drivers manually. Would it be possible to transfer nvidia-driver to a new system fromwithin setup process, it's rather complicated to do by oneself.
Are you going to include a login manager into installable system, or startx is our best friend?

Could you please point me to what do I need to set up build environment for ArchBang? I have some ideas, but no way to check them

Re: ArchBang 2.00 RC1

I've volunteered to help.
The only catch is that I don't have much experience.  I can install Arch (using it as my primary system), but I've never done any development work.

So, if anyone knows of any useful reference material (online or off), please let me know.

This is a great project, and I want to see it succeed.

Btw, currently downloading via torrent, will be seeding shortly.

Will had a larch profile for AB, but I don't.
I personally will leave all the future "build" decisions to the new developers, I have done my part, how they want to take the project forward is upto them.

Re: ArchBang 2.00 RC1

Right now started to process your message. (Got a bit too fast though. My desktop started to behave strangely. And it is Gentoo... So it'll take some time)

What would be the best method to contact you?

Re: ArchBang 2.00 RC1

i have a few questions for people that involved is there a central place where all the modifications are setup and a method for them to be extracted from the live CD. the instructions that i got are great but they it leads to a role your own version of Arch Bang!.
If there isn't i could setup a Google projects site for bug tracking and the initial build script that was supplied to me,

I believe then it would just be a case of supplying a list of the packages to be included on the Cd/Usb and for any modifications a pkgbuild with a patch?

Mattew

Re: ArchBang 2.00 RC1

I'll agree with everyone that I'd be more inclined to help if there was a centre for the project.

I have server space being wasted at http://mardoct.zapto.org that can be used as a mirror and I'd be willing to help with a few things I've noticed awry in 2.00 RC1.

Re: ArchBang 2.00 RC1

Ok guys if anyone is interested in maintaining the git tree let me know.
http://gitorious.org/archbang/archbang

Due to requests, I decided maybe it's time to have a roof of our own? Give the Arch Mods some rest. So went ahead created a forum: http://archbang.x.am

Post all your future ArchBang related queries/bugs/feedbacks/suggestions/whatever there.

I request a mod to close this topic.It's 19 pages already!:P
