I recently ran an update (via pacman) and now when I reboot, not only does slim not start (from daemons), when I type startx (tried both users), I get:
/etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc: line 1: /usr/bin/X: Success
giving up
xinit: No such file or directory (errno 2): unable to connect to X server
xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error
Can someone please make sense of this? I use openbox as a WM if that helps (I doubt it does). It worked perfectly before the update and all of the daemons such as hal load on boot, so that can be eliminated.
I have also noticed that dhcpcd is far slower now.

Try reinstalling xorg,
pacman -Syf xorg

That's strange. I tried that before making this post, but it didn't work until now Thanks

Thank you for this post. I experienced the same thing because I installed `xorg-xinit` Thinking that `xorg` would be one of the dependencies.
I registered just to thank a decade old post.

While that's good to hear, please don't necrobump posts like these.
