news from the kernel26mm kernel!
- UML updates
- fbdev updates
- nfs4 server updates
- new megaraid driver, new iscsi driver, fatfs update, fbdev updates,
kitchen sink.- The below description of what has been added and what has been merged is
proabably a bit more inaccurate than usual do to my haveing shuffled things
around and confusing myself.- I dropped the list-of-all-patches from this email due to it being rather
long. The unexpurgated version is at
ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/p … nounce.txt
... but the really cool thing is that pwc (philips usb webcam driver) is now included as module
the diff to the config is here:

Can I ask a slightly OT question about this? How does kernel26mm-2.6.11 get into extra, while kernel26-2.6.11 is still in testing?
Only mildly curious but the way - I always compile my own...

kernel26 is the official kernel used for archlinux.
kernel26mm is the kernel from the mm-tree and only maintained by me because i use it myself. as it comes with newer drivers, some users prefer the mm-tree and therefore i keep it in extra. however, it will never be part of an archlinux installation cd or official. (you have to do a pacman -S kernel26mm and add vmlinuz26mm to the bootloader to use it - and this you will do only if you know what you do - on the other hand with the default kernel on the installation cd, you have the kernel set-up and therefore kernel26 must be (and is) more failsafe than kernel26mm)

==> If you use the LILO bootloader, you should run 'lilo' after upgrading.
==> If you install the mm-kernel the first time, don't forget to add vmlinuz26mm

==> NOTE:
==> The kernel26mm pkg is NOT the official kernel for a standard ArchLinux
