hey,
i am having this funny issue. every once or twice in a day, my display suddenly gets all garbled up. this is not triggered by anything, it just happens - the panels get all fuzzy and the ends of the screen are in the middle and all that. it gets all fine within a couple of seconds if i click anywhere on the screen. it is not really a problem, but slightly irritating because everything else about my arch is perfectly flawless.
do you have any idea, why this is happening. a couple of days earlier i had been trying to update my system, and the xorg-server would not update. the file would be downloaded and then it will say that the file is corrupted. but the problem i have has been happening since before then.
any ideas/help on the issue. thanks!

What is your video card and what driver do you use?

i have intel 945gm and i am using the xf86-video-intel driver for it.
another update is, i was using xfce just for fun today, and it happened on that too.. so i guess it is not something that is happening because of the DE. do you think changing to vesa would help?

hey.. this might sound stupid.. but i have installed both the drivers now.. how can i verify which driver is being used in the present instance??

You can verify the /var/log/Xorg.0.log and find something similar to (if the vesa driver is installed):

yeah so i checked using your technique.. the driver that is being used is the intel driver.. how can i ask xorg to use vesa instead?
