Ethernet card breaks after update

Hey guys. I went on a trip last week, so I shut down my computer, which I normally don't do. It's been a while.

Today, I start it back up, and the internet doesn't work.

I ran /etc/rc.d/network start:

eth0: unknown interface: No such device
dhcpcd: eth0: interface not found or invalid

Strange. ifconfig -a:

lo        Link encap:Local Loopback  
          inet addr:127.0.0.1  Mask:255.0.0.0
          UP LOOPBACK RUNNING  MTU:16436  Metric:1

Uh oh. I have never had wired ethernet not Just Work.



EDIT: aaand rebooting made it work. Apparently. I don't know. Feel free to lock this topic.
