Re: Installing GRUB on XP

Edit: Totally misread that.

Didn't you get an option to install grub on your first HDD when you installed arch?

Re: Installing GRUB on XP

Well, I am currently running Arch on several machines...(I recently migrated to Arch from Ubuntu....)I have a machine at work I am working on with 2 HDD (master...Windows XP.... secondary....Arch)

I'm trying to figure out how to load GRUB onto the Windows HDD so I can boot to either HDD at startup.

Re: Installing GRUB on XP

you are asking the same question as you have in this thread here. it would be better to wait for awhile and see if someone can answer your questions before you start adding in additional topics about the same thing.

Re: Installing GRUB on XP

I did get this option...and I setup GRUB on the both HDD (un-commenting the Windows section)
When I booted into Windows from that GRUB it took me to something like memtest (in the BIOS...very strange)

should I ONLY install GRUB on the Master HDD? is that my problem?

Re: Installing GRUB on XP

The chances are that you uncommented a section of the grub file which was just an example, and it is pointing to the wrong partition. Find out what partition windows is actually located on, read about how grub's menu.lst is configured, and try again. It's probably also a good idea to heed the advice of evr and stick to one thread.

This thread is a duplicate post, or at best, a continuation of the one linked to by user evr.
