Hi,
While installing, and when installed from Core-cd, dhcpcd is timing out on a new bought notebook (ASUS K52JR).
I read the wiki-page on network configuration, I checked those things, but can't figure out why I cannot connect. Getting on-line with Windows is not a problem. I've also a desktop pc where Arch Linux is already running several years and connecting through cable with dhpcd was never an issue. So I think all hardware is working correctly.
Running lspci -v gives me this kind of information (not a copy past, cannot read ext4 partition from Windows 7 ):
kernel driver in use: jme
kernel module: jme
lsmod | grep jme gives me:
jme 35760 0
mii 5680 1 jme
dmesg | grep jme results in something like:
JMicron JMC2XX PCI INT A -> GSI A17 'level, low) -> IRQ 17
setting latency timer to 64
PME# disabled
irq 36 for MSI/MSI-X
modrpobing jme doesn't change a thing
ifconfig gives me the interface eth0
dhcpcd -d eth0 is just timing out.
How could I resolve this issue? Someone pointed me to ifplugd? Would that help? My network related settings are like my desktop computer where it is working...
Help is welcome!
Thanks in advance!
Kind regards,
David
Edit: I downloaded knoppix and getting on-line works. Is it possible that it is because I downloaded the 64 bit version of Core install and Knoppix 386? I thought that I could use 64 bit on this laptop... (Intel core i3 cpu) Everything seemed to work during install - except dhcpd. I will try it once more with the 686 install disk...
Solved: I used the 686 intall disk and everything installes ok. I still don't know why the 64 doesn't work.
