Hello everyone,
now this is a silly problem, I don't really know why, but the application "xstdcmap" is not there. The X man page says it should be there. I need it because I can't use an example C program from uni, which runs the program to determine some colours.
Thanks!

Have you tried installing it?
Go to http://www.freshports.org/x11/xstdcmap/ and download it from one of the mirrors.
no place like /home
github

I'm not sure how to compile it, running "make install clean" or just "make" or any combination of it will not work. Should I try to use ./configure ./compile etc.? (Those demand root privileges)
Sorry for being such a newb.

If you intend installing it you would be much better off making a PKGBUILD (it's not difficult). That way you can install (and uninstall it) it using pacman.
And yes, you do need to ./configure then make, or make install

Thanks everyone, it works now.
I just used ./configure and make install. I'll learn how to make my own PKGBUILDs at some later point, have lots of other work at the moment.
But I still wonder --- why is the xstdcmap program not included in Arch's X?
