Geeqie, the successor of the dead GQview, seems to be the percfect image viewer for me. It has a minimal interface, is pretty fast and has many advanced features.
*But* there is one thing that is preventing me to use it on a daily basis as my default image viewer: I can't open multiple instances/windows of it. If I have to see two or three pictures side by side, I can't do that with geeqie because every time I select an image it is displayed in the currently opened window.
Anyone has clues about that? I can't believe such a basic option can't be enabled...
Thanks

You can right-click on an image, there's an option to open it in it's own window. Then move to the next image in the "main" window, right click again & open that one, etc, etc.

Thanks for your answer.
However I actually don't use the side panel, but only the main window. I usually browse my pictures in my file manager (Thunar) and double click on them to open.
I would like to be able to open different pictures in a folder in different windows.
Is this impossible?

This works as expected with rox-filer, It opens new images that I click on in a new geeqie window not an existing one.
Maybe the problem is with thunar or exo-open or whichever opener it uses.
/edit
Just realized thunar probably uses the desktop file so checked it in
/usr/share/applications/geeqie.desktop
and it has Exec=geeqie -r %F
remove the -r
or make a patch or sed it in the pkgbuild and rebuild it.

I know that it's not exactly what you asked for, but <Control-N> will open a new window.

Removing -r from /usr/share/applications/geeqie.desktop does the trick, thank you very much!
In the meanwhile I discovered another imageviewer that suits my needs very well, Viewnior. Strongly reccomended!
