Can't rip VobSubs from DVD (solved)

I'm ripping a DVD and I'd like the subtitles to be in a .sub file (not hardencoded on the videofile). The first chapter I ripped with dvd::rip went fine although I had to merge the video and audio track with ogmmerge.

However, with the other chapters, the .sub, .ifo and .idx files I get seem to be unusable: MPlayer nor Xine nor VLC will show the subs. MPlayer says it doesn't recognize them.
I've tried other programs to rip them, but not luck. If I play the DVD and enable the subs, their shown so the subs really are on the DVD.

Does anyone know how to get them off?

I have no idea how it works.

OK, this is getting very weird: I tried to use those subs on a different rip and MPlayer decided to display the right subs. I checked again and now MPlayer actually has no problems with the subs I ripped. :?

Wtf, I don't get. It works but I have no idea why.

Re: Can't rip VobSubs from DVD (solved)

I think I figured it out: the .ifo, .idx and .sub file have to have the same filename. Then MPlayer will play them fine (without using the -sub switch).
