RecordMyDesktop produces videos that aren't the original length and look like they run at 1 FPS.

Same here. I blame my integrated ATI graphics, what graphics do you have? It used to work fine when I had a dedicated Nvidia card, even though it was only an 8400GS. I think just having a dedicated card makes a huge difference when screen recording, a lot more difference than how good the card actually is, since I used an old PCI Nvidia 5200 card that was slower than my integrated, but still much faster while screen recording (in Windows too).

Same here, recordmydesktop records with 1 fps due to broken theora, maybe its not fixed in Arch yet. I had exactly the same issue on Fedora and their packagers had to fix the recordmydesktop package recently it works fine there with same settings.

I was having the same problem. I rebuild the package with the following patch (changes a default setting for the encoder), and it appeared to solve the problem.

Same here, recordmydesktop does not work correctly in Arch Linux, but in Ubuntu 10.04 it works, as it should.
