Maybe, I have no idea, but as said Alex Deucher, support of fan control on some r7xx boards are not implanted (maybe you have this possibility because of the brand of your graphic card?). (If I understand the mailings list)

Am I the only one, who can't boot with Kernel 2.6.34? I tried precompiled versions, I compiled my own Kernel, but the root device "doesn't exist" (but it does).

Try /dev/sdaX instead of the UUIDs. Or install the kernel26-pm package.

Re: Discussion: the ati/radeon open source drivers & radeon repository

weird stretched icons in KDE with perry 3d repo.
I am using kdemod  4.4.1 with perry3d repo. I am seeing weirdly stretched desktop icons and font when I connect my widescreen 1080p external monitor through HDMI. I have a dell studio XPS 1640 which has a 1080p screen too.
So the external monitor resolution is native , I am not able to find a setting in kde system setting to resolve this issue.
I have no xorg.conf file.

it is barely noticible as the external monitor is running in native widescreen 1080p resolution but only the fonts/icons seem vertically stretched a little...look at the KDE Menu you can see the chrome/firefox icons stretched a little

Possibly the screen shot looks fine, as the image generated internally is ok.. where as the resolution it is outputting is getting slightly stretched?  It would mean we see it fine he sees it stretched.

I've installed kernel26-pm and didn't notice any power/thermal/acpi related difference. Anyone else with a Mobility Radeon HD 4570 tried it?

@Perry3D: Did you include the "allow multibyte access to EC" patch in kernel26-pm? I guess you didn't. Of course, there is no hurry, but in next builds (or in your free time, if you still have some wink), could you, please?

Is there a solution to this you might know of?
When I out put it on win7 it is perfect.

It could be a resolution issue... what does RandR say your current res is? It might be detecting the resolution incorrectly and stretching to fit (some panels do this on the fly independent of the vidcard).  I had odd issues with the NVIDIA driver detecting my TV wrong on a different box. That was after they updated to a "more accurate" detection method (i think it was EDID or something).

So yeah.. Pic's or it isn't happening. (or check some numbers)

Performance is not what i expect, but everything else is looking good.

the RandR is showing the right resolution, so I am not sure why it is getting stretched. The panel is fine coz in win7 I am not seeing the same issue.

Re: Discussion: the ati/radeon open source drivers & radeon repository

drm-radeon-testing is updated, and some of agd5f's pm2 patches are removed from the page.
At this time, drm-radeon-testing has been merged into both drm-linus and drm-next.
Pm2 patches 0001-0007 have been applied in drm-next and drm-linus.
Pm2 patches 0001-0004 have been applied in drm-radeon-testing.
So now you can simply build drm-next (according to shotrlog, it now has all drm-radeon-testing and drm-linus changes).
Or try apply pm2 patches (some patches will definitely fail to be applied, as mentioned above)
