Subsitute MPD / Consonance Still Active?

Hi,

I'm just become a little sick of the command killall mpd and the mpd.conf....

so i thought on going to another LIGHT music player...i have seen Consonance..but the last version cam in April 2009...still active??

Any other solution even if it's console based....what i want is the rtorrent of the music players (no mpd and no clients).

Only need to play MP3 as well.

Thanks

Moc is a sweet console-based music player. Few dependencies and mp3 support.

Thanks for the apps.

From what i found i can count on Moc using 6mb RAM, the same as mpd.

What about mp3blaster? Yep i'm a performance guy..that's why i'm here smile

Thanks

Have you tried these?

I don't think you can get less memory usage than moc/mpd.
If you're a "performance guy", buy some RAM tongue.

I don't have installed mp3blaster, but i don't think the program will run with less than 6mb RAM.

Honestly, if you want mpd without the hassle, install xmms2. Its brilliant. I wish it had more followers, since it desperately needs client developers. The nyxmms2 client is cli only, but quite ok. Apart from that there is nothing really. Abraca is actively developed at least, but SLOWLY.

Anyway, the program rocks - it needs no setup at all, simply install xmms2, run xmms2d and run "nyxmms2 server import /path/to/your/music"

thats it, you are set.

*edit*

found this really, really nice client: ccx2 (git version in aur)

I'd like to throw in a shoutout for Clementine. It's trying to emulate the much-lamented Amarok 1. It's still early, but it works very nicely and is the player I've settled on:

Pragha seems nice...

MPD (3.9MB RAM) with Sonata (18.8MB RAM)

On a X64 system.
