Hello,
I've managed to get my internet connection up and did an pacman -Syu
Now pacman doesnt do anything anymore, it just keeps giving me this:
-bash: /usr/bin/pacman: cannot execute binary file
What could this be?

Are you on a 32-bit/64-system? Check that the ELF is correct on /usr/bin/pacman.

My system is i686 but I read somewhere here on the forums (since I had problems with install) that I should install the 84_64 version anyway.
The ELF looks wrong though, it's all symbols in the beginning and then some lines in combination with symbols (unless thats how it's supposed to be)

Wait, so did you install the 686 version or the x86_64 version of Arch? Did you modify your mirrorlist to download files from a different Arch than what you have installed?

No sorry, I was confused with this:
I installed Arch with the normal install even though I have no SATA.
I installed the x86_64 updates. There's my problem I think, my laptop uses i686. I'll reinstall and update with i686, if I still get the problem, I'll let you know.

Yeah, I choose the wrong updates. This thread can be closed. Sorry

Welcome to Arch. I have no idea where you got the idea that x86_64 updates were suitable for an i686 system, you may want to go back and scold the person who told you that.
Please mark the thread as [solved] (edit first post)
