Hello all,
When I had to set up a wiki for my corporation, I thought I'd check out Archlinux's wiki to see what they use, since i wanted a nice, fast, lightweight wiki for our corporation's documenation. However, I saw they were running MediaWiki, which is the 10k pound gorilla that does everything under the sun.
The list of wiki software on wikipedia is daunting, and several times I looked in more depth at one of the software packages on there I notice that it hasn't been under development for several years.
So, my list of requirements would probably be:
- Lightweight, simple
- Clean interface
- Currently under development
Basically: the archlinux of wikis!
Does anyone have any recommendations or personal experience?
Thanks.

I've seen someone use Dokuwiki on a blog and thought it was a good idea.

Dokuwiki has many no-nonsense features, like the ability to set it as public in a click. No need to setup mysql, register users etc. which is great for many quick projects that need to document things quickly and efficiently.

Another vote for DokuWiki, I can only say good things about it. At my workplace it is used internally and its very good for that.
The biggest advantages are the huge amount of plugins and the fact that content is stored as txt files.
The syntax is also simple enough for it to actually not be a bother to write an article, which is something that I can't say for MediaWiki.

I use dokuwiki because it doesn't need a database. Haven't used anything else so I can't compare but certainly lightweight.

+1 for dokuwiki, I use it for my personal webpage. Its easy to use, easyly extensible through the many available plugins and the many nice themes. And of course as mentioned that it doesn't need a database makes setup quite easy too.

I'm voting for dokuwiki, too.
First like the others mentioned it has many plugins for all purpose, many different themes, fast and nice support through community e.g. mailing list and irc.
If there is something missing e.g. the themes doesn't suit you you can easily create a theme or plugin.
I've already created a theme and written with some others a plugin for dokuwiki and the code and API is very clean and easy to learn.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Dokuwiki has the most votes so I'll check it out first.
EDIT: Ooh, and thanks for the wikimatrix link.

I've used mediawiki before. It wasn't very difficult to setup though in that version the concept of permissions (basically enabling only account-holders to access/change certain pages) did not exist. At the time I heard it was coming down the pipe, but the need for the wiki went away. I've seen pmwiki and dokuwiki running as well, and they seem good.
I suppose I would point out that you should pay particular attention to which features you think you need vs. what the wiki software advertises as being a feature. In my mind page permissions would be an obvious thing to have, but it was not in the mediawiki philosophy of open information, and was therefor absent. Research the features.

did this wiki invent it's own storage/versionning system? I read on their website that it doesn't require a database, neither a VCS.
