[SOLVED] - rc.local confusion

My T41 boots with sound muted. I checked the alsa wiki page and set amixer, stored it, rebooted, yet it boots muted.

Thought of a quick solution to this conundrum, so put

amixer set Master 90% unmute
amixer set PCM 85% unmute

in my rc.local. It still boots muted! Checked dmesg and grepped amixer or alsa but no show.

I'm out of ideas... Any suggestions?

Silly question:
You did not mention whether you have the alsa daemon in the DAEMONs array in rc.conf. Do you?

Re: [SOLVED] - rc.local confusion

Not a silly question at all roll

I just double checked and it wasn't there. Put it in, rebooted and all is well...

Cheers!

PS.: Still scratching my head how I missed that one big_smile

Re: [SOLVED] - rc.local confusion

After doing:

amixer set Master 90% unmute
amixer set PCM 85% unmute

Did you confirm that it worked after doing it (so did you do something like: aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav)?

If it works, did you store the current settings of your player like so:

alsactl store

Those are just some things I needed to do when I was having sound issues awhile back. This seemed to work out for my situation.

::EDIT::

Sorry for the post, was creating this before another entry was placed in. Glad it is working again big_smile
