Has anyone had any succes trying to get a lexmark z605 to work with archlinux? I have been able to use it in the past but due to a reinstall i cant anymore. I keep getting errors from cups such as "Cannot Process Raster" only thing i found about that was that it could be that esp ghostscript isnt installed well it is installed. Would be nice if i could get it to work.
p.s. NEVER buy a lexmark printer.

I have Z602, and it works fine.
Download http://www.downloaddelivery.com/srfilec … 0-1.TAR.gz
from Lexmark site, it should work with all Z60x printers.
Inside you will find z600cups-1.0-1.gz.sh
Run it with
sh z600cups-1.0-1.gz.sh -target temp_dir
It wit try to run some tk scripts, but on my Arch it can't find libtk8.3.so and exits...that's normal. In temp_dir you can find 2 rpms : z600cups-1.0-1.i386.rpm and z600llpddk-2.0-1.i386.rpm
I think the content of z600cups is enough, but just to be sure extract both rpms in some location, and copy content keeping directory structure
/usr
/usr/lib
/usr/lib/cups
/usr/lib/cups/backend
/usr/lib/cups/backend/z600
/usr/lib/cups/filter
/usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertoz600
/usr/share
/usr/share/cups
/usr/share/cups/model
/usr/share/cups/model/Lexmark-Z600-lxz600cj-cups.ppd.gz
...
After that, restart CUPS and add your printer using new z600 backend.
It worked for me, hope it will work for you too.
Regarding "never buy...", I think if you pay 50$ for printer and 4$ for 100ml black refill bottle, and it works...what else do you want?

I use the z60x driver for my X1150 3-in-1, and it prints fine... no scanner though

Hi torindan2.
I'm trying to get my Lexmark z602 to work following your instructions, I did download the file and extract it thus having the rpm files, but how do I extract the rpm's

Hippuh, for the rpm file in question (after getting 'rpmunpack'):
rpmunpack < [filename].rpm | gunzip | cpio -idmuv
* That will extract those files into the current working directory.

Hm, something went wrong.
I have the right drivers for my z602 in the right locations, and I did follow the wiki to set up cups.
The only error I got was when running : tail /var/log/messages : getting a no such file exists error.
I proceded whit the cups web interface to see if I could find the printer there, and that setup went just fine, also running : lpq : in a terminal returns : z602 is ready no entries.
If I try to print a big document or this web side, I see the print progressbar for a second and then nothing, no printing and no errors,
Anyone know's what could be wrong.
Thanks.

I had the same problem.
The files from .rpm after extraction (rpmextract...) have premisions 700, after changing to 755 and runing ldconfig cups started printing :]
