Re: I'm curious about your oppinion

I use dzen2.
works great for displaying new mails, new messages from im, battery status, temperature, load and date/time

for feeds I use newsbeuter. It reloads all feeds automatically and informs me about new articles via notify-send

dzen2 is handy. Use it quite a bit. Very versatile.

I use Conky all the time, but after reading this topic I'm curious about Dzen2, what is it capable of? Does it support transparency?

well, one can pipe conky to dzen2 and it can display the output in colors you define, and you can have little "icons" that are specific to whatever you want them to be.look at jasonwryan's screenshots, he uses dzen2+conky...
Oh and you can write some pretty cool graphical apps with dzen2.I wrote my own "man page" using dzen2:D

Re: I'm curious about your oppinion

Until the latest version, conky only supported "pseudo" transparency. From what I've been told, the latest version (not sure if it's stable yet) has true transparency.

Edit: Sorry. Misunderstood the question. After re-reading, I realized you were asking about dzen.
