X was crashing randomly for me this past week (randomly, when I hit the enter key)....I booted this morning only to find a message for me @ GDM login.... "Install Problem - The configuration defaults for GNOME power manager have not been set correctly. Please contact your administrator."
now I can only login as root....if I login as a user...X crashes straight back to gdm....

What happens if you use just startx instead of GDM?

@BarefootSoul83 be sure you are up to date. dbus 1.2.22 had a crasher and it was fixed in 1.2.24
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

I just went in about an hour ago and "sudo pacman -S dbus dbus-core gnome gdm" just to make sure everything was current... still no change to the error
