weirdy perissions problem...

elo, ARCHERS.........

must state so far am incredibly impressed so far, an am enjoying getting dirrty in config files, I am however stumped by permissions being overridden across reboots, I know there is somewhere too put them just unsure where????? :oops:

my setup is fujitsu scalero p celery 2995 512 mb ram dvd dvdrw proview tft 15" aopen nvidia geforce2 fx 5200 alsorts of wm available at present  gnome,kde,xfce,windowmaker,fluxbox

:shock:
problem is permissions on /dev/dsp and /dev/nvidia*
I can reset these too 0666 root and can then open non native apps on any wm however after reboot (shared p.c win**** only user  sad )
these permissions are amended and need to be reset,
following the info in the nvidia docs i checked the files quote but they dont appear to be present to amend any idea's

BTW previously run distros .....

Re: weirdy perissions problem...

/dev/dsp:

http://wiki2.archlinux.org/index.php/Alsa%20setup
==> Setup Permissions
"gpasswd -a USERNAME audio"

about nvidia i don't know as i have an ATI

The impossible missions are the only ones which succeed.

Re: weirdy perissions problem...

At least you searched and found it. Not only that, you returned here to tell that the problem is solved and even have the decency to be ashamed. So I think we can almost be proud of you, if you didn't spam 10 similies. ;-)
