hmmm - I've seen working programs which use only one... but this is prolly a special case.

I've got a question: Is there any way to get any event send, not just for one window. Something like the good ol' windows hooks.
I saw a method enumerating all children and then listen to events send to each of them, but that's a bit annoying, since when there new windows created you have to enumerate again. I had also some focus issues with my firefox, but the could come from ion, too.

right, fluxbox has managed to incorporate this to some extent but does anyone know about fvwm?
I know it is hardly under development anymore, but with the styles option it seems like the BEST basis for great translucency customization.

fluxbox doesn't do this - it creates fake transparency itself internally - it does not use composite
Offline
that's not true - it uses the composite extentions - try it
